A Rare Genetic Condition Affects These Indonesian Tribespeople

Korchnoi Pasaribu is an Indonesian geologist and photographer who recently visited the tiny island of Buton to shoot some of the island’s inhabitants. Some of the island’s residents suffer from a rare genetic disorder known as Waardenburg syndrome, which causes them to have unusually vivid and blue eyes.

Korchnoi said in a recent interview that he had known the tribespeople since 2019. However, he just went to shoot them in September of this year, and he expressed his delight at finally doing so.
