While 2022 had a lot of darkness, it wasn’t all bad, especially for these popular queer couples who chose to express their love and get engaged!

#1. Max Parker & Kris Mochrie
The two British actors, who first made headlines in 2020 after dating while playing brothers in the ITV soap Emmerdale, got engaged in January 2022.
Parker revealed in a touching Post on Instagram that he proposed to his boyfriend, who is now his fiancé.
“He deserves the world, but all I could do was promise him my heart,” Parker captioned the Instagram post, which included a carousel of adorable photos and videos of Parker proposing to Mochrie while the two were sitting beachside. “HE SAID YES. The happiest time of my life. My fiancé, [Kris Mochrie].”
#2. Nico Santos & Zeke Smith
Former Survivor contestant Zeke Smith proposed to Superstore star Nico Santos in April while they were presenting onstage at the GLAAD Media Awards.
Smith discussed representation and how this year’s awards had much more nominees than ever before, citing his history with GLAAD, which did help him after he was outed as trans while appearing on Survivor. But Santos believes it is still insufficient.
#3. Colton Underwood & Jordan C. Brown
Colton Underwood, who came out publicly in 2021, told People Magazine in February 2022 that he got officially engaged to political strategist Jordan C. Brown on his birthday in January.
“I’m very pleased! “The year 2021 has been the most transformative in my life,” he stated. “Beginning 2022 with my best friend, teammate, but now fiance is something that I never imagined was possible.”
#4. Zac Posen & Harrison Ball
The well-known fashion designer revealed his engagement to Harrison Ball, a main dancer with the New York City Ballet.
Posen made the announcement on Instagram with a carousel of photos of himself and Ball, simply writing, “Engaged. 8.8.22.”
#5. Shaun Ross & David Alan Madrick
In August 2022, the out singer-songwriter posted on Instagram to announce his engagement to actor and longtime partner – now fiancé – David Alan Madrick.
“I love him very dearly because he has made me feel so comfortable becoming a Black queer man,” Ross said of his fiancé, whom he met 11 years ago and was dating for three years before deciding it was time to take their relationship to the next level. “‘Do you wish to do this with me?’ he asked. ‘Absolutely and forever,’ I replied.”
#6. Nikki Blonsky & Hailey Jo Jenson
The actress, best known for her role as Tracy Turnblad in the 2007 film adaptation of the musical Hairspray, proposed to her fiance Hailey Jo Jenson in September.
“I’ve played a lot of love characters in my life, and it’s been a gift, but the greatest gift in life is real love, true love, and I am honored to start feeling unconditional love, and a love that really is pure,” Blonsky posted on Instagram when she announced her engagement.
#7. Scott Hoying & Mark Manio
While on vacation in the Bahamas, Grammy-winning Pentatonix vocalist and artist Scott Hoying proposed to his longtime partner Mark Manio on the beach.
“I have never met anyone who was so kind and selfless,” Hoying told The people about his relationship with Manio in September, while discussing the epic, romantic AF proposal. “I’ve always felt so at ease around him. We will indeed talk for hours about everything from the beginning. We share a lot of interests and have a lot of fun together.”
“He’s the most lovable, caring, compassionate, kind, and attractive man I’ve ever met.” “It was so simple to fall in love with Scott,” Manio continued. I really fell in love quickly. And, to be honest, I fall more in love with them every day. “With him, every day is a magical experience.”
#8. Beanie Feldstein & Bonnie Chance Roberts
Feldstein and Roberts decided to get engaged in June after Roberts proposed to her, and Feldstein announced the happy news on Instagram with caption, “I do, Bon.”
The proposal was made in front of a pool, which was surrounded by trees, fairy lights and flowers. Jonah Hill, Feldstein’s brother, was present, as were friends Ben Platt, Noah Galvin, and Feldstein’s Booksmart co-star Kaitlyn Dever.
#9. Antoni Porowski & Kevin Harrington
In a November Instagram post, Queer Eye’s resident food and wine expert announced his engagement to longtime boyfriend and strategy director Kevin Harrington, shortly after celebrating their three-year relationship anniversary.
“I really hope the wedding photos aren’t too blurry [praying emoji],” Porowskit joked, sharing a nighttime selfie with Harrington.
#10. Ben Platt & Noah Galvin
Dear Evan Hansen stars Ben Platt and Noah Galvin, who have been dating each other for the past two years, announced their engagement over the Thanksgiving holiday weekend in November in an adorable post on both of their Instagram accounts, showing off pictures of the moment Platt proposed to Galvin.
“He agreed to hang out forever,” Platt wrote in the caption of his Instagram post.
“I said yeehaw and then cried for like 7 hours,” Galvin wrote on his Instagram.
