A Buddhist group in Thailand achieved a Guinness World Record by creating a picture of the world and Buddha with 256,477 lighted candles.
The Dhammakaya Foundation created a globe map with a seated Buddha picture and the words “Earth Day, Cleanse the Mind, Cleanse the World” using lighted candles.
The artwork was made to commemorate Earth Day 2021, on April 22.
According to Guinness, the project’s 256,477 candles were enough to set a world record for the biggest burning picture created with candles.
They wanted to encourage everyone to stay strong during the pandemic. They also thought that everyone would be united during this pandemic by seeing the illustration of the world map.
Over 400,000 people saw the burning picture come to life when it was uploaded on the internet.
