For cosmetics, a typical rule of thumb is ‘less is more,’ but laws are designed to be violated, right? Mimi Choi, a 31-year-old beautician from Vancouver, Canada, has used this technique to create some of the most amazing optical illusions we’ve ever seen.
Mimi Choi worked as a preschool teacher for three years before starting a thriving Instagram account with over 308,000 followers: “I felt like my creativity was restricted.” “I liked teaching, but I wasn’t entirely satisfied,” she said. “I wanted a new challenge,” she said, so she dropped out of school and began playing around with cosmetics at home.
“I’ve always been artistic and have previously done wedding makeup, which was well received.” But I’d never done something as insane as the stuff I do today.” This mentality changed when she enrolled in a local beauty school and saw what she could do with the right cosmetics. But it wasn’t until Halloween that I realized which course to take: “I wanted to do something unusual for October 31, so I went to Instagram and sought for a picture of a lady with a broken face.”
Since then, she’s been creating fantastic, if not downright horrifying 3D illusions on herself, pushing the boundaries of what cosmetics can do.
