When it’s cold enough outdoors, hot water may instantly transform into ice crystals as it is hurled. Michael Davies photographed the occurrence and transformed it into a work of art. The shot took place roughly 20 kilometers from the Arctic Circle when the -40°C cold couldn’t be beaten even by the noon light. The actual tea tossing has done by Davies’ buddy Markus.
“We started chucking the water and shooting, prepared with many thermoses loaded with tea,” Davies recalled in an online interview. “Nothing about this photo happened by coincidence; I paid attention to the temperature, kept an eye out for a quiet breeze, and meticulously prepared and set up the image.” Even though it’s hard to manage, the sun in the center of the spray was something I was aiming for.”
