Many hospitals throughout the globe are entirely overburdened with coronavirus patients, and the exhausted staff is doing all possible to assist them all. Nevertheless, knowing about it is one thing, and Houston-based photographer Go Nakamura wants to depict the harsh reality of physicians combating COVID-19 at the United Memorial Medical Center.

Since May, the guy has visited UMMC over 20 times and snapped several sorrowful images. Go noted in an interview that the COVID unit had 20 beds when he initially saw the hospital, but that number has climbed to 30 during the summer.

There are some very tight guidelines when it comes to taking photos in the COVID ward. Go had to wear complete PPE and hasn’t allowed taking pictures to reveal the patient’s identity. “When I accompany the doctor into the Covid ward, he asks the patient whether I may accompany him. Many of the patients are asleep, but those who are awake will answer yes or no,” the photographer added.
