Dior Creative Director Chiuru Launches Book

If you are into collecting art books and fashion photography, this one’s for you. To celebrate International Women’s Day, Dior who is an Italian fashion designer plus the present director of Dior, has put out a photography book under the title Her Dior: Maria Grazia Chiuri’s New Voice.

33 women photographers that cooperated with Chiuri were featured in the anthology book. Her Dior focuses on glorifying art and photography as seen by the lens of a female gaze. “An ode to self-affirmation and to the beauty of cultures and couture – like so many banners of freedom,” according to a press release from Dior.

An excellent piece to a coffee table, the book is bound with a black ribbon that shows the words “HER DIOR” printed repeatedly. Printed in the brand’s well-known san serif typeface and on a plain whirte t-shirt, the cover says “We Should All Be Feminist” – a phrase used and popularised by Nigerian author Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie. Dior’s will identify the shirt from 2016 as Chiuri used them at her first runway show as the creative director of the French fashion house, with Adichie in attendance. (Non-fashion people may identify the phrase from Beyonce’s ****Flawless”, that also featured Adichchie via a sampling of her 2017 TED talk.)
