Colin Creevey from Harry Potter fame? In Hogwarts, remember the tiny man who used to point his camera at everyone’s face? In reality, he went on to be a professional photographer.
Hugh Mitchell was inspired by his father, who was also a photographer when he was a child.
“I believe that getting a camera into your hands when you’re a child can play a big role,” he says in an interview with PetPixel, “but I didn’t get severe about it as a leisure activity until several years ago when it became all about landscapes and the way photography gets married up so well with enthusiasm for the outdoors, a bug I also had.”
Following his role in Harry Potter, he continued to work as an actor, appearing in several TV series and films. Mitchell also had a few other occupations and interests, one of which was photography.
He eventually chose to pursue his dream of becoming a full-time professional photographer.
“I’m now a full-time photographer photographing landscapes, headshots, weddings, and a sprinkling of product photography,” Mitchell told PetaPixel. It’s still very unexpected to some extent, but I’m much more in charge, there’s a lot of variety, and I get to meet some pretty interesting individuals.”
