Following a car accident near her home, Katie Price pleaded guilty to drink driving and driving while disqualified. When she appeared at Crawley Magistrates’ Court this afternoon, the 43-year-old admitted to driving without insurance. And also, she was arrested in the early hours of Tuesday morning after crashing her BMW. Katie was taken to the hospital by paramedics, but she is not believed to have been seriously injured.
“Katie Price, 43, of Worthing Road, Horsham, was charged with using a motor vehicle on a public place without third party insurance and driving while disqualified,” a Sussex Police spokeswoman told the media after the collision.
She was “arrested on suspicion of driving while above the legal limit for alcohol and drugs and has been brought to the hospital to be looked over,” a police spokeswoman told the media on Tuesday.
Katie’s family rushed to Instagram hours after her detention, asking for support from her fans and saying their worst fears had almost come true. “As a family, we have been concerned about Kate’s wellness and overall mental health for some time,” her loved ones stated.
“Today, our darkest worries came close to becoming a reality.
“As a family, we have been and will continue to assist Kate in obtaining the assistance she requires.
“We hope she realizes she can’t deal with her problems on her alone.”
“We would please request that the media and the general public allow Kate the time and space she requires to get the required therapy so that she can hopefully return to the Kate we know and love as a mother, daughter, and sister,” they said.
Katie’s family emphasized her public life in the letter, urging that the mother of five recuperate discreetly from what they described as a “tough moment in her life.”
“We are very concerned and frightened about her,” Katie’s family said. “We realize she lives her life openly and is fair game to many, but as a family, we hope she may find her path quietly moving forward at this very tough moment in her life.”
“We’re not asking for pity; all we’re asking is for Kate’s illness to be acknowledged.”
“We take great comfort in reading the messages of love and support for Kate that we will forward to her in the hopes that these encouraging words will encourage her to keep going.”
“It takes enormous fortitude to admit you need assistance, and we hope the door is now open for Kate to learn to love herself and be happy within,” the statement said. It is not a personal failure to suffer from mental illness.
