Rob Cross, the former world champion, was left with egg on his face after forgetting his darts at the World Grand Prix, with opponent Peter Wright offering his own as a replacement. The tournament’s 2021 edition started yesterday and will end on October 9 with the final.
Cross, dubbed “Voltage” because he worked as an electrician before becoming a professional darts player, was spotted stumbling around on stage after misplacing his essential equipment.

Further, as he attempted to correct the blunder, the 31-year-old was chatting with his hands in his pockets. And Rob Cross was gesturing to a member of his squad in the audience.
The current World Matchplay Champion, Wright patted Cross on the shoulder and playfully offered his darts for use. But Cross seemed bewildered at first and may have assumed Wright had discovered his darts. And also Cross laughed as he realized the prank and thanked his opponent for the offer.

Cross, helpless on stage, slipped his darts and waved to the audience, ostensibly apologizing for the delay, to the crowd’s amusement.
Cross went on to upset Wright in straight sets in a match between two previous world champions. And also knocking the second seed out of the World Grand Prix first round. Matches are played in a best-of-three set format, with the winner of each set determined by a best-of-five leg format.
