These tales by Ademar Vieira from Manaus, Amazonas, Brazil, are difficult not to be affected by. While this excellent cartoonist is still relatively unknown, his comics are becoming more apparent online.
Originally a scriptwriter, the Brazilian artist’s works are an excellent combination of aesthetics and narration. So it’s no surprise they’re so captivating. He’s made several, but today we’ll concentrate on “The Choice.”
“The Choice” is about making a life-altering choice, no matter how tiny the chance. Every time we make a decision, we enter a new timeline. The author juxtaposes and shows two different worlds when the protagonist decides to get a dog. This is for all animals who helped our mental health throughout confinement, according to the author’s Instagram.
“When I uploaded them, I noticed that many people related to them, so I kept producing them unpretentiously to exorcise my demons during a terrible time that I was going through in early 2020. I got positive comments, so I kept exposing my emotions, and the audience grew. When I got over my awful period, we were in the coronavirus epidemic, so I kept exploring the challenges others throughout the globe were having. Now I utilize the strips to communicate my views on personal, societal, and political issues.”
“I couldn’t believe it when a comic strip of mine went viral throughout Latin America in June this year,” Ademar said. In one week, I had 100,000 likes and 20,000 followers. Famous individuals and celebrities came to congratulate me, leaving me in awe but also with a sense of obligation. Now, not only did I make comics for myself and my pals, but others from all over the world saw me. Positively, the audience has shown me a route to pursue as an artist.
