Drew Binsky is a travel blogger on a mission to visit every nation on the globe – and he’s just six countries away from achieving his goal! The guy flew to Afghanistan in one of his most recent movies, where he met Haji Meerzaman, an Afghan photographer who still uses a 100-year-old camera. Drew was then photographed, and Haji walked Drew through the whole process and some background on the camera and how he started into photography.

In one of his most recent films, Drew Binsky met Afghan photographer Haji Meerzaman, who still uses a 100-year-old camera, in one of his most recent films.

Haji claims to be the only person in Afghanistan to use a box camera, which he has done for the last 65 years.

The photographer decided upon Drew’s picture.

Drew was welcomed to the photographer’s house, where he immediately set up a makeshift studio and took Drew’s image. Haji noted that box cameras were new to him when he first started photography. And he was eager to learn about them. His relative showed him how to operate the camera.

Even though there was a lot of competition, Haji made money by taking passport shots for approximately $1 and more enormous portraits for up to $8.

The whole photo-taking procedure is done by hand, and the images are developed right within the box! A box contains picture paper on the right, while two tubs with IPO and fixer can be found on the left.

Here’s how the photographs appear just after they’ve been taken.

The images are negatives and must be flipped to reveal the authentic appearance, so Drew and Haji headed to a neighboring camera shop to do it.

And here’s the final product!
