A tattoo lasts a lifetime, but what happens when it begins to signify a traumatic past? Steve Peace, a tattoo artist, redid his wife Lindsay’s tattoo to represent that their daughter was a transgender male. Ace, 15, was quite pleased with the transformation of the female in the tattoo into a guy, which took an hour.
Ace told Global News, “I felt like it didn’t represent me very well, that it wasn’t so much our family since that person didn’t exist anymore.” Lindsay has tattoos of all of the couple’s children, and they’re all in need of a touch-up after a decade; in addition to updating the tattoo to reflect Ace’s reality, Steve also darkened the colors and lines.
Steven and Lindsay wanted their trans son Ace to feel accepted. So they altered the tattoo depicting him as a female to fit reality.
“I didn’t feel like it reflected me very well, that it wasn’t as much about our family since that person didn’t exist anymore,” Ace said.
Steve Peace is the owner of a tattoo shop, and he wanted his kid to be happy in his new life.
Lindsay has a tattoo of Ace’s brother on her arm as well.
