With Paper Cutouts, An Artist Transforms Famous Landmarks

Some individuals feel compelled to alter well-known sites; Rich McCor uses paper cutouts and photos. He requires a basic perspective technique and some picture alignment to convert the Arc de Triomphe into a LEGO guy. Or to present a selfie stick to the Little Mermaid in Denmark.

On Instagram, McCor goes with the handle “@paperboyo,” and he drew the attention of Lonely Planet. “My original thought was to turn Big Ben into a timepiece using a cutout,” McCor said. “A girl and her father were interested in what I was doing while I was there, so I showed them the shot on my camera screen.” They were ecstatic by the concept, which encouraged me to pursue it further. I then shot images of St Paul’s, the London Eye, and Trafalgar Square, and while doing so, I’d upload them to Instagram along with fun information about each site.”
